Proposed
amendments to US Patent System |
|
|
Recently, the US House
Committee on the Judiciary approved to reform the nation's
patent system. The Patent Reform Bill pending before the
full U.S House proposes amendments to the US Patent Act. The
Bill allows a second review after a patent has been granted
in order to challenge the validity of newly issued patents.
It also narrows the definition of willful infringement and
the damages for infringement are proposed to be limited to
the economic value of the patent's contribution to an
overall product. This amendment aims at bringing US in
consonance with the International practice of first to file. |
