Tivo and IBM cross-license  

Tivo and IBM entered into a cross license deal in which a non-exclusive and world wide license was granted over patents and patent applications by each party to the other party. 


Transmeta sues Intel

Transmeta, a Company that develops and sells software-based microprocessors, sued Intel for infringing ten patents covering computer architecture and power efficiency technologies.


Inventor compensated in Japan  

As per the Japanese Patent Law a company has to compensate its employees who come up with inventions that are protected as patents adequately in proportion to the profits made by the company.


 
 
 
   

 PATENT GRANTS IN SEPTEMBER  

 

CSIR leads the patent race in September 

 

The Indian Patent Office granted 160 patents in September, 2006. The table below shows the top twelve companies that received patent grants. CSIR tops the list with 38 patents, followed by P&G and ACME Tele Power with 4 and 3 patents respectively.
